Medical Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY:

Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients' charts. May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists during physical examinations.
  • Maintains treatment rooms.
  • Sterilizes instruments.
  • Performs ECG's.
  • Obtains vital signs.
  • Performs phlebotomy and specimen preparation.
  • Administers injections per the physician’s orders.
  • Assists in chart preparation.
  • Maintains stock supplies in the clinic.
  • Arrange for outside referrals per the physician’s orders.
  • Performs accurate, legal and ethical documentation of all office procedures.
  • Provides front desk assistance to include answering phones, greeting patients, filing charts and maintaining medical records, making appointments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Medical office experience of at least one year.
  • Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Bilingual a plus.
